How do you add new words to the dictionary of your kid????
Some tips.... Every week make a list of 20 words which are new to the kid ,collect pictures which could project the word either as a single word or a sentence ...., identify the opposite ,synonym of the word and maintain a scrap book where in the kid records all these . The fun filled activities would make the kid pursue with interest.
May be over a fortnight you could have a game set up revising these words and understanding on how much the child has understood the meaning of all the words.
This would definitely enrich the kids vocabulary.
One more way would be reading out good story books or making the kid read and trying to explain the new words and the context it has been used.

As Vidya suggested reading out books to the young ones really works.
I have seen it working on my neice who will be 3 year old next month.
Since she likes listening to fairy tales all the time ,
from past one year or more we have been reading out fairy tales to her almost everyday.
It has helped her so much that she can understand english already to a good level.
She also likes to reads out each letter
from the books and even from the newspaper everyday.
The tip on vocab was really useful...do you have somthing similar for rhymes? Today I had a hell of a time making my little one prepare for the rhyme competition tomorrow. He simply refuses to learn anything!
